I am sitting here next to the Christmas tree, with the fireplace on, drinking eggnog (with brandy) and I can't help but start to feel in the Christmas spirit. What better time than right now to fill out a Christmas questionnaire that I found on Ashley's blog.
Egg nog or hot chocolate?
I like both, but when I drink egg nog I would prefer some brandy in it PLEASE.
Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
santa does wrap presents although if they are bigger presents or in the stockings they don’t get wrapped, sometimes they will get a bow.
Colored lights on tree/house or white?
this year is the first time Brett and I put lights up on our house. So we put up red and white lights to go with a candy cane theme. Although we used LED lights and the white ones came out a cool blueish white so we may have to rethink this for next year BUT this year they are staying.
I am just proud of us for putting lights up.
Do you hang mistletoe?
hells yes….cause you get to make out and stuff under it
When do you put your decorations up?
as soon as we can after Thanksgiving.
Favorite holiday memory as a child?
my dad reading the Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve, he reads it in this voice that is, well, magical. When I spent my first holiday with Brett’s family I called home to hear my dad read the Night Before Christmas. No Christmas is complete without that.
When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I am one smart lady (what you didn’t know that about me?). I figured it out all on my own. I got suspicious when Santa wrapped all of our presents with my parent’s wrapping paper.
Let’s not talk about when I decided to tell my sisters about Santa that was a sad Christmas morning.
How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
white lights and different kinds of ornaments (no generic ones). each ornament has a special meaning to us, every year Brett and I buy each other an ornament that means something about us, our tree has filled up quite fast. So this year Brett got me a Charlie Brown snow globe ornament (he is a big charlie brown fan) and I got Brett a blown glass old school camera ornament.

We were also very lucky to get married right before Christmas two years ago and got wonderful ornaments as Christmas presents, around a dozen of them and those are some of my favorite ornaments ever.
Snow! Love it or dread it?
snow is beautiful and I love looking at it on the mountains BUT I do not appreciate having to shovel it, walk in it or drive in it.
Do you remember your favorite gift?
not really, I have some great ones over the years but I remember things I’ve done more than the gifts.
What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?
spending time with family, eating, drinking and laughing.
What is your favorite holiday dessert?
hmm…around this time of year I love all sweets, candy canes, all the different types of Hershey kisses. Although my Dad’s family recipe for buttermilk pie is amazing.
What is your favorite holiday tradition?
I hope to keep this going when we have kids, but getting into our p.j.s, opening up one present on Christmas eve and then reading the Night Before Christmas.
What tops your tree?
a very leany star (Brett you need to get home and fix it because I am too short)
Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?
I loving giving gifts….but I wish the holidays weren’t so focused on gift giving (the pressure of what to give people, how much money to spend) and was more on family and spending time together.
What is your favorite Christmas song?
I love me some Santa Baby
Candy canes?
yes
Favorite Christmas movie?
Love Actually and Elf
What do you leave for Santa?
nothing now; but as kids we were taught to leave carrots on the roof for the reindeers because no one did anything for the reindeers and they got hungry as well. The first year we did that we got our backyard swing set (so it obviuosly worked). We still would leave milk and cookies for Santa though, didn't want to piss off the fat guy.
now it's your turn...share your thoughts on Christmas.

I totally agree on the gift giving! This year Matt and I are only giving each other stockings and we're going to try to do something nice for each other as our main "gift." I'd love to create a tradition of making gift giving about the gesture, not the price tag.
Making stuff is also fun :)
OMG carrots for the reindeer that's genius. You two are so cute. I haven't ever had eggnog with brandy, but I would love to have a glass or 5 with you sometime. ;D Very cute post and I like your decorations.
I LOVE that camera ornament!! Either I saw the exact same one... or one very similar when I was out shopping and almost bought it for myself. I'm now regretting that I didn't get it!!!!
Nice work kids. Alicia and I got the lights up on the house as well. Have some things we like, others we don't but they are staying up.
I may steal this survey.
Also, muy importante... my blog URL changed to Lestersews.blogspot.com
I must admit... we have a small batch of generic tree ornaments which normally I would be TOTALLY against, but... our tree was empty. So we bought some tiny glass balls.
LOVE both of your new ornaments! I can't wait until John and I have collected enough special ornaments that we can get rid of the boring filler ornaments. Yay for the Christmas tree! And how exciting that you got to do lights outside the house! I think the lights look great!
