The Circus Y'all

That's right, I went to Britney Spears' Circus Tour on Sunday night in San Jose, CA with my good friend Kara. So if you follow me on twitter (if you don't you should) or are on facebook you would have gotten a glimpse of the craziness that was Sunday night.

Now while everyone was recouperating from eating massive amounts of ham and/or chocolate. Kara and I were just starting our evening with some sangrias and plans of how to time it so that we miss out on the PussyCat Dolls that were opening for Britney. I had absolutely no desire whatsoever to see the PussyCat Dolls (PCD). We decided more alcohol the better, and it would enhance our enjoyment of the evening.

So Kara decided to get some souvenirs of the evening, she is a longtime Britney fan and I decided that my time would better be spent standing in the long alcohol line. While waiting for what seemed like forever we decided that we couldn't wait any longer and were afraid we would miss the beginning of the show. So we hike up to our seats, they were in the nosebleeds for sure. Not only were most people already in their seats, I think they actually were excited about seeing the PCD.

We had seats smack dab in the middle of the section so we had to excuse our way to our seats when we ran into this woman that we will just call "Bertha". Bertha was too busy on her cellphone giving a recap of the PCD to step back so we could pass. Bertha was a little scary, in the way that she has possibly done jail time, she doesn't have a lot of teeth and well I am sure she has been in many fights before. Well, as it would be because she wouldn't move Kara accidentally bumped into her spilling her beer. Bertha didn't even flinch and leaned over to say "umm..you spilled my beer" to which Kara replied (because Kara is sweet and wonderful) "I am sorry I will get you another one". Well, let's just say that Bertha didn't leave it at that, she huffed and proceeded to tell her friend on the phone about the incident in colorful language.

Crap. This concert is going to suck, is all I could think about. Kara looked at me and said that there was no way that she was going to sit here and wanted to go talk to Security about moving us to different seats. Okay, didn't think they did that and well was pretty sure it wasn't going to work and that we would be stuck next to Bertha and her angry beer soaked friends all night. Moments later Kara texts me that we have new seats and to come down.

Here is how the conversation with the security guard went.

Security: "So we can move you guys but all we have are standing room"

Me (looking at Kara like I can't wait for tonight to be over with): " Uh, okay. Where would that be?"

Security: "Its on the floor"

Me (the floor next to the stage): "I think we can handle that"

We were then given wrists bands with VIP access to be right next to the stage. I looked at Kara like I was going to explode and as we walked away asked if we were allowed to squeal yet.

I couldn't believe it, I felt like a teenager so giddy and excited. I mean look how close we were to the stage. (not zoomed in as it was taken with my iphone)

Now look at the view from our seats next to Bertha, the seats we would have had to sit in.

I still can't get over how everything worked out to be one of the best nights ever. It was seriously an amazing concert. I will not lie I loved it and Britney is one hell of an entertainer. Here are some more photos.

The show started out with Perez Hilton doing the introduction. (nerdy side note: the technology that was used, the LED screen, that Perez is on is the same screen we just used in our keynotes and awards at my conference...couldn't get much nerdier than that)

The concert was hot like sexy. Britney's costumes were amazing and the dancers were yummy.

There was a lot of dancing, a lot of acrobatics and its was almost overwhelming how much was going on at once. I wasn't bored at all.

Crazy fireworks, another visually appealing aspect of the concert.

This is the one song she sang live and I can't remember the name (oops) but I don't blame her she ran around like crazy and was dancing so hard that I don't think anyone could sing.

This is my favorite picture from the evening. Yep again look how close we were. That's me and in the background that's Britney y'all.

Yes it was amazing and not entirely the large trainwreck that I had imagined. Although she did come out and say "What's up Sacramento!" and we were in San Jose. BUT she did say San Jose like 12 other times to make up for it.

The real trainwreck was the other concert goers. The crowd was mainly full of women in their mid to late twenties, not a lot of teeny boppers. So...it wasn't suprising that a lot of them were dressed like complete sluts. It was shocking to see what they decided to wear to the concert. One girl in line for drink was wearing a short shirt dress and kept leaning over the counter to talk to the bartender and had no clue that she was showing her ass to everyone, she was wearing a thong we saw her whole ass. So the people watching aspect of the concert was quite enjoyable.

I had a fantastic time and I owe it all to Kara. Thank you for getting the tickets and being a Britney fan. Thank you for bumping into that lady and spilling her beer and getting us VIP access. Thank you for being such a great friend and so much fun. I still can't believe it.

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter I know I did.

I think one of the most enjoyable moments was when I realized Bertha was never going to get her replacement beer. Karma. I love it.

Hey! I am seeing this on Wednesday but have nosebleed tickets. Is there anything I could say to get upgraded? Are they really strict? I would love to be able to get better seats!

@alexbohs- we didn't plan on getting better seats it was just something that happened so unfortunately I don't really having any suggestions, it really was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Have a great time.

will do! i am so excited! i believe the tickets we have are where you first were going to have to sit. was it miserably bad up there? or, do you think we'll still be able to enjoy it all?.....as long as we don't have a "bertha" that is.

I totally just stumbled onto your blog, but I have to tell you... my sister and I were at the Circus concert at the Staples Center a couple of weeks ago! We had nosebleed seats too.. and I have to say that after reading this, I wished we would have at least tried getting better seats. We were sitting next to an entire herd of teenage girls who had smuggled booze in their purses. They were pushing and screaming at each other... ugh!! We still had fun though... I'm impressed with how good of a show she puts on!!!!
